Customise reading with text, grammar, and accessibility tools
By opening Tools, students can access the Immersive Reader, which allows them to customise how they read and understand content.
This feature supports a wide range of learning needs by making text more accessible and engaging.
Text Preferences
- Adjust text size → Zoom in or out.
- Increase spacing → Add extra space between words and lines.
- Choose fonts → Including dyslexia-friendly options.
- Select background/text colours → Improve readability and reduce visual stress.
Grammar Options
- Break words into syllables → Easier decoding.
- Highlight grammar → Nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs in different colours.
Reading Preferences
- Line minimiser → Focus on 1, 2, or 3 lines at a time to improve concentration and comprehension.
- Picture dictionary → Illustrated explanations for key words.
- Translation → Translate into 100+ languages, word-by-word or full text.
- Text-to-speech → Listen to content read aloud in different voices and speeds.
💡 Try combining tools — for example, using line minimiser with text-to-speech, to make longer texts easier to follow.
📌 Students may need initial teacher modelling to understand all the Immersive Reader features. Once familiar, they can customise independently.
